This is a Direct Hire Career Opportunity!Full Time, In Office Daily. 8am-4:30pm/ 8:30am-5pm type of shift.About the RoleOur client is seeking an Accounts Receivable Lead - Sales Tax Expert to own multi-state sales tax compliance and lead core accounts receivable operations. You will maintain and verify exemption/resale certificates, guide sales on jurisdictional rules, and partner across Finance and IT to enhance automation (including Avalara and ERP integration). This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, organized professional with strong leadership, communication, and accounting skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment.What You'll DoServe as the primary owner for sales tax compliance initiatives across jurisdictions; partner directly with the CFOCollaborate with the Controller and external accounting firms on state filings/returnsIdentify physical/economic nexus in new states; lead VDAs (Voluntary Disclosure Agreements) with each stateAdvise internal sales teams on jurisdictional tax rates and exemption considerationsOversee exemption documentation across states (current focus on the Northeast) and ensure accurate reflection in customer sales reportsA/R Operations & Cross-Functional SupportAct as backup for A/R functions: collections, cash posting, credit-card processing, aged receivables reporting/analysisReview and monitor customer accounts to ensure accurate, timely invoicing and collectionsCoordinate customer outreach to resolve outstanding balances; reconcile accounts and correct billing discrepanciesPrepare regular A/R performance reports and aging analyses; monitor aging and follow up on past-due balancesLiaise between Sales and Shipping to align upcoming shipments with sales-order financial statusPartner with Controller and Sales to establish/revise payment terms and review customer creditworthinessParticipate in OTC (order-to-cash) process and systems projectsEnter customer payments in the ERP, post cash, prepare bank deposits, and process credit-card paymentsRequiredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)3 years related experience in A/R and sales tax compliance.Experience with Avalara or similar tax automation software.
