What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diesel Mechanic position at Lexington Truck Sales?
Lexington Truck Sales is currently hiring for the position of Diesel Mechanic.
The Diesel Mechanic will inspect, diagnose, and fix mechanical problems on diesel-fueled vehicles and larger machines. The Diesel Mechanic will collaborate with the customer along with the Sales, Service, and Parts departments to ensure vehicles are safely and efficiently operating to the driver’s need.
Responsibilities:
- Examine customer vehicles – inspect systems such as suspensions, steering, exhausts, etc.
- Identify and perform necessary vehicle repairs and maintenance such as replacing vehicle transmissions/brakes/engines, completing oil changes, wheel balancing, alignments, brake checks, etc.
- Perform all vehicle repairs, maintenance, and services according to dealership and manufacturer standards & guidelines
- Observe all Federal, State, Local, and Company safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties
- Accurately estimate the cost of repairs
- Request necessary parts
- Document services performed
- Test drive repaired vehicles to gauge performance
- Maintain CSI at or above company standards
- Participate in required trainings as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Heavy-Duty Truck/Diesel Engine Mechanic
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Must have own tools required to work on heavy trucks– specialty tools provided by the dealership
- Formal technical degree, certifications or training in diesel engine repair (preferred)
- Driver CDL (preferred)
- Strong automotive background – Volvo, Isuzu or Autocar experience is a plus!
- Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components, operational mechanism, maintenance tools, and repair equipment – comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office – proficient with internet and use of diesel engine diagnostic software
- Excellent problem-solving and verbal/written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Willing to submit to a pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Must have a clean & valid driver’s license
Schedule:
- Monday-Friday; 8AM – 5 PM
