Position Summary
Lexington Middle School is seeking a motivated and responsible Assistant Girls Softball Coach to help support the school’s softball program. The assistant coach will work closely with the head coach to develop student-athletes’ skills, promote teamwork and sportsmanship, and provide a positive and safe environment for middle school athletes.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices and games.
Help teach fundamental softball skills including throwing, fielding, hitting, base running, and game strategy.
Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team activities.
Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and respect among players.
Assist with preparing practice plans and drills focused on skill development.
Help manage equipment, uniforms, and practice materials.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes.
Follow all school, district, and athletic association rules and policies.
Support communication with players and parents regarding expectations and team activities.
Assist with game preparation, field setup, and other duties assigned by the head coach or athletic director.
Qualifications
Knowledge of softball fundamentals and coaching techniques.
Previous playing or coaching experience in softball or baseball preferred.
Ability to work effectively with middle school students.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Commitment to building a positive and supportive team culture.
Must meet all district requirements for coaching (background check, certifications, etc.).
CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
Time Commitment
Attendance at all scheduled practices and games during the season.
Participation in occasional meetings with coaching staff or athletic administration.
Compensation
Stipend based on district athletic supplement schedule.
