Position Summary
Lexington Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Girls Basketball Coach to support the development of student-athletes both on and off the court. The assistant coach will help the head coach implement a positive, competitive, and educational basketball program that emphasizes teamwork, skill development, sportsmanship, and character.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices and games.
Help teach fundamental basketball skills, strategies, and rules appropriate for middle school athletes.
Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team activities.
Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and respect among players.
Assist with organizing equipment, uniforms, and practice materials.
Support the head coach in evaluating player development and team progress.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes.
Follow all school, district, and athletic association policies and guidelines.
Help communicate team expectations to players and parents.
Assist with game preparation, scorekeeping coordination, and other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic director.
Qualifications
Knowledge of basketball fundamentals and coaching techniques.
Experience playing or coaching basketball is preferred.
Ability to work effectively with middle school students.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to support and promote a positive team culture.
Must meet all district requirements for coaching.
CPR/First Aid certification REQUIRED or willingness to obtain.
Time Commitment
Attendance at all scheduled practices and games during the season.
Occasional meetings with coaching staff or athletic administration.
Compensation
Stipend based on district athletic supplement schedule.
