Job Title: Aquatics Director
Overview: Meadow Breeze Camp is looking to fill positions for our 8-week summer camp programs, grades Kindergarten to 12th grade. LCA is a grade 6-12 independent Christian school located in Lexington, MA. Since 1966, Meadow Breeze Day Camp at LCA has been offering an exceptional traditional day camp for kids of all ages.
Job Summary: The Summer Camp Aquatics Director oversees all aspects of the camp's aquatic program, ensuring the safety, enjoyment, and skill development of campers participating in water-based activities. They are responsible for program development, staff management, safety enforcement, and facility maintenance to create a positive aquatic environment.
Responsibilities:
Program Development:
Design and develop aquatic programs suitable for campers of various ages and skill levels.
Plan and schedule swim lessons, water sports, safety training, and recreational activities.
Incorporate educational elements into aquatic programs to promote skill development and water safety awareness.
Staff Management:
Recruit, hire, and train lifeguards, swim instructors, and aquatic staff.
Provide ongoing professional development opportunities to maintain high standards of performance and safety.
Supervise aquatic staff, delegate tasks, and provide feedback and support as needed.
Safety Enforcement:
Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure the well-being of campers and staff during aquatic activities.
Conduct regular inspections of equipment, facilities, and pool areas to identify and address safety hazards.
Maintain current certifications for WSI, lifeguarding, first aid, CPR, and other relevant training.
Facility Management:
Coordinate with maintenance staff to address any facility-related issues promptly.
Emergency Response:
Be prepared to respond quickly and effectively to aquatic emergencies, including rescues, medical incidents, and inclement weather situations.
Coordinate with camp leadership, medical staff, and emergency services as needed.
Conduct regular emergency drills and training exercises for aquatic staff.
Communication:
Maintain clear and effective communication with campers, staff, parents, and camp leadership regarding aquatic programs, safety procedures, and any relevant updates.
Address any concerns or questions from campers, parents, or staff regarding aquatic activities in a timely and professional manner.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and other relevant information related to the aquatics program.
Provide regular reports to camp leadership and stakeholders on program performance, safety compliance, and areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
Water Safety Instructor certification (recommended), Lifeguard certification, CPR certification, and First Aid certification required.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff and campers, as well as provide instruction or constructive criticism
Ability to enforce rules for the safety for all staff and campers
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and best practices in aquatic programming.
Passion for working with children and promoting positive development through aquatics.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 21 years of age
Valid Standard First Aid, AED & CPR Certification
Lifeguard Certification
WSI Certification (Recommended)
Complete a CORI background check
Attend all training sessions
PAY: Seasonal, $23-$27/hr based on experience & certifications
Salary : $25 - $27
