Per Diem Registered Nurses (RN)

Lexington Center for Recovery, the Hudson Valley’s largest provider of outpatient and residential substance use disorder services, is seeking a Per-Diem Registered Nurse (RN) for our Valley Cottage location.

Job Description

The Nurse provides clinical and medical support to individuals receiving treatment for opioid use disorder. This position is responsible for providing safe, compassionate patient care, administering medications used in opioid treatment, including medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and other MAT medications; monitors patient health and treatment response; maintains accurate clinical documentation; and collaborates with the medical team.

The Nurse works closely with the Nursing Supervisor and multidisciplinary treatment team to ensure quality care and compliance with applicable NYS OASAS, DEA, Department of Health, and agency requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients receiving treatment for opioid use disorder.
• Administer and dispense medications used in opioid treatment and other MAT medications in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and applicable regulations.
• Conduct nursing assessments and monitor patients for withdrawal symptoms, adverse reactions, and changes in medical or behavioral health status.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate clinical intervention.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient records and medication documentation.
• Monitor and maintain medication inventory, security, and proper storage.
• Participate in medication counts, reconciliation, audits, and quality assurance activities.
• Conduct and/or observe toxicology screenings as required.
• Provide patient education regarding treatment, medication safety, overdose prevention, and naloxone.
• Assist patients with accessing medical services, appointments, and referrals as needed.
• Collaborate with physicians, counselors, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to support coordinated care.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable agency and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in staff meetings, supervision, training, and in-service education.
• May serve as Charge Nurse in the absence of the Nursing Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current, active New York State RN license required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare setting required.
• Prior experience in substance use disorder or behavioral health treatment preferred.
• Knowledge of opioid treatment and medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) preferred.
• Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation.

• Must be available for early morning and Saturday shifts.
