CASAC - Substance Use Disorder Counselor

Lexington Center for Recovery, the Hudson Valley’s largest provider of outpatient and residential substance use disorder services, is seeking a Full-Time Substance Use Counselor for our Stone Ridge location.

Job Description

The Substance Use Counselor provides individual, group, and family counseling to individuals receiving substance use disorder treatment. Responsibilities include conducting evaluations and intakes, providing case management and care coordination, maintaining clinical documentation, and assisting clients with treatment planning and referrals.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, and family counseling.
• Conduct client screenings, evaluations, and intakes.
• Assist with treatment planning and case management.
• Complete DWI and Family Court evaluations when required.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with OASAS requirements and agency policies.
• Conduct toxicology screenings and related documentation.
• Coordinate medical, psychiatric, and other supportive services.
• Communicate with referral sources, courts, insurance companies, and other community providers.
• Assist with treatment authorizations and insurance-related needs.
• Participate in supervision, case conferences, staff meetings, and training.
• Assist with discharge planning and referrals to appropriate levels of care.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with OASAS regulations and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State clinical license or current Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) certification required, or CASAC eligibility as applicable to the position.
• CASAC-T certification may be considered based on applicable program and position requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as social work, psychology, counseling, or human services, preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience in substance use disorder treatment required.
• Knowledge of medication-supported treatment and integrated care approaches preferred.
• Strong clinical, documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable regulatory and agency requirements.
• Bilingual Spanish/English skills are a plus but not required.
• Ability to work early morning or evening hours as required by program operations.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
