Job Summary
Kelly Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to serve as a long-term substitute teacher for our 1st-grade classroom. This full-time position requires an enthusiastic educator who is committed to fostering a positive learning environment and supporting the academic and social development of young students. The ideal candidate will be able to create engaging lesson plans, manage classroom dynamics effectively, and collaborate with staff and parents to ensure each child's success.
The position would be from August 19, 2026 through January 6, 2027. The final three days will be a day-to-day substitute in an elementary classroom.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state standards and meet the diverse needs of all students.
- Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for learning.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to enhance their educational experience.
- Manage classroom behavior and implement effective discipline strategies to maintain a productive learning atmosphere.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and any concerns.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support school-wide initiatives and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Prepare and organize classroom materials, supplies, and resources for daily activities.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress reports.
- Uphold school policies and procedures while promoting a safe and respectful learning environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; a valid teaching certificate is preferred.
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in an elementary school setting.
- Strong understanding of child development and effective teaching methodologies for young learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans and activities.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
