Finance Director

About the Campaign

James for NY is the re-election campaign of New York Attorney General Letitia James. Attorney General James has spent her career fighting for New Yorkers. We are building a statewide team that reflects New York and runs through Election Day, November 3, 2026.

The Role

The Finance Director leads the campaign’s entire fundraising operation — major donors, events, digital, and everything in between. You will build and run the finance plan, manage the campaign’s fundraising consultants and vendors as one coordinated program, and put the Attorney General in the right rooms with the right preparation. You will work closely with the Campaign Manager, the Treasurer, and compliance counsel to keep every dollar raised clean and every deadline met.

What You'll Do

• Own the finance plan — build and execute the fundraising plan through Election Day, with clear weekly targets, projections, and reporting to campaign leadership.
• Run principal fundraising time — manage call time, donor meetings, and briefings for the Attorney General — prepared, prioritized, and productive.
• Drive the events program — build a statewide calendar of high-dollar and community fundraising events, from host recruitment through follow-up.
• Manage vendors as one program — coordinate the campaign’s fundraising consultants across major-donor, events, and digital channels so every firm pulls toward the same goals.
• Grow the donor base — expand the campaign’s network of supporters across New York, with particular attention to in-state, small-dollar, and first-time donors.
• Protect compliance — work with the Treasurer and counsel to ensure all fundraising activity meets New York State campaign finance requirements, including the rules of the public matching funds program.

What We're Looking For

Required

• Significant fundraising experience on state wide or federal candidate campaigns, with at least two cycles in a senior finance role
• Experience managing call time and donor engagement for a principal
• Working knowledge of New York State campaign finance rules, including contribution limits and the public campaign finance (matching funds) program
• Experience managing fundraising consultants and vendors
• Fluency with NGP and ActBlue 
• Exceptional organization, discretion, and follow-through

Preferred

• Experience on a statewide race in New York
• Existing relationships in New York donor communities
• Experience running a program under a public financing / matching funds system
• Experience managing finance staff

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: 13,000/mo $1,000/mo healthcare stipend.
