Job Title: Forklift Mechanic
Location: 41 Eagle Rd (Main) All Warehouses/Factories with a forklift onsite
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM - Overtime available based on business needs
Summary
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Forklift Mechanic to join our growing PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) Maintenance team. This position is responsible for performing scheduled preventative maintenance, inspections, battery maintenance, and basic repairs on forklifts, electric pallet jacks, reach trucks, and scissor lifts.
The Forklift Mechanic plays a critical role in maximizing equipment uptime, extending equipment life, and identifying potential issues before they become costly repairs. The ideal candidate is organized, mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and committed to producing high-quality work while maintaining accurate maintenance records.
The primary focus of this position is performing scheduled preventative maintenance throughout multiple warehouse locations while supporting warehouse operations by minimizing equipment downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) on forklifts, reach trucks, electric pallet jacks, order pickers, scissor lifts, and other powered industrial trucks.
- Complete manufacturer-recommended service intervals, including fluid changes, lubrication, inspections, and adjustments.
- Perform battery maintenance including watering, cleaning, cable inspections, equalization scheduling, and charging system inspections.
- Conduct comprehensive equipment inspections to identify worn or damaged components before failure.
- Report repair recommendations and safety concerns discovered during inspections.
- Complete minor mechanical and electrical repairs as assigned.
- Maintain accurate service documentation using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and digital work orders.
- Assist senior technicians with larger repairs and troubleshooting when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop, service vehicles, and work areas.
- Assist with parts inventory, stocking common maintenance items, and notifying management of low inventory.
- Follow OSHA regulations, ANSI standards, and company safety procedures at all times.
- Communicate professionally with warehouse personnel regarding equipment status and estimated completion times.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and special projects as designated.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Basic computer skills for work order documentation.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Previous experience performing preventative maintenance on forklifts, industrial equipment, automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment is preferred.
- Familiarity with electric forklifts and battery maintenance is preferred.
- Experience using maintenance management software (CMMS) is preferred.
- OSHA or forklift-related certifications are a plus but not required.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be willing to travel between multiple warehouse locations as needed.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and company service vehicles.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures.
