About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Director to lead clinical operations within an adult behavioral health and substance use treatment program. This executive-style leadership role oversees clinical teams, program quality, regulatory compliance, and the delivery of evidence-based care. The ideal candidate is a licensed clinician with strong leadership presence, excellent documentation skills, and a passion for serving individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
The Clinical Director plays a key role in maintaining high standards of care, supporting program growth, and ensuring a trauma-informed, person-centered environment for both patients and staff.
Primary Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
- Provide day-to-day leadership to clinical teams, including therapists, counselors, case managers, and support personnel.
- Maintain compliance with state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
- Oversee clinical workflow, caseload assignments, and performance expectations.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and development of clinical staff.
- Maintain a positive, solutions-focused leadership approach.
Clinical & Operational Excellence
- Ensure delivery of high-quality clinical services across residential and outpatient levels of care.
- Strengthen program effectiveness through evidence-based treatment models and continuous improvement.
- Review and approve treatment plans, assessments, progress notes, and discharge planning.
- Provide clinical supervision (if certified/eligible) and support teams with challenging cases.
- Collaborate with medical providers, leadership, and administrative teams to ensure coordinated care.
Crisis & On-Call Support
- Participate in after-hours phone support for de-escalation or urgent clinical issues as needed.
- Assist staff with crisis intervention protocols and safety planning.
Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure documentation meets organizational and regulatory standards.
- Maintain EMR accuracy (experience with Azzly/EHR systems is highly preferred).
- Participate in audits, QA/QI initiatives, and corrective action processes.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral Degree in a Behavioral Health discipline, with a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience. An active, unrestricted, clinical license is required.
- The ability to prioritize and multi-task, with exceptional time management skills. Ability to competently encourage and inspire direct reports in the delivery of stellar clinical services through professionalism. Demonstration of a client-centered team approach, with advanced computer skills.
- Scheduling flexibility REQUIRED to accommodate varied client admissions.
- Must hold a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and provide own insured transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or clinical leadership experience.
- Experience working in residential or outpatient treatment settings.

Pay: Up to $110,000.00 per year
