Leonardo DRS is seeking a Supplier Quality Manager to support our Naval Electronics (NE) Business Unit.

- Senors Center of Excellence - Largo, FL
Job Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop the Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) team; set priorities, ensure consistent execution, and build a strong talent pipeline through performance management and development plans
- Drive cross-functional process change by translating supplier quality issues and trend data into updated controls, requirements flow-down, and prevention-focused improvements.
- Partner with Procurement/Buyers and Supply Chain stakeholders to align supplier strategy, support sourcing decisions with risk-based input, and execute supplier recovery and escalation actions.
- Provide direct, candid feedback to internal stakeholders and suppliers; set clear expectations, timelines, and consequences, and drive accountability to results
- Establish and mature proactive supplier quality execution (APQP, PFMEA, control plans, risk-based auditing) to reduce escapes and improve supplier capability over time.
- Define and track leading and lagging supplier quality indicators (Supplier Report Cards, SCAR aging/closure effectiveness, audit finding closure, DPPM/escapes, OTD) and drive sustained improvement plans.
- Partner with Operations and Program Management to balance supplier risk, execution priorities, quality requirements, and total cost - driving timely, risk-based decisions that protect schedule and customer commitments
- Align Supplier Quality processes, metrics, and standard work to corporate-driven requirements and enterprise initiatives, ensuring consistent deployment, adoption, and compliance across the business unit.
- Develop and review quality assurance cost estimates in support of proposal efforts
- Maintain, execute, and improve the quality management system using departmental and company resources
- Manage all ERP related quality systems/modules - use data to drive improvement through disciplined metrics management and team projects
- Perform direct coordination with customers and suppliers during early planning phases of development and production programs
- Manage direct and indirect budgets and departmental expenses
- Specializes in Supplier Quality, but ideally will prove competency in all Quality functions
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience in a related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills
- Ability to lead effective corrective action using disciplined problem-solving methods and statistical analysis
- Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
- In-depth knowledge of AS9100 & ISO 9001 Standards
- ISO Lead Auditor experience desired; certification preferred
- ASQ certification preferred
