Essential Functions Statement(s)
Maintenance of Certification: Maintain NADCAP and all other relevant certification registrations with a high level of system compliance. Sustain outside audits and recertification audits as required.
Customer Interface: Develop strong working relationships with counterparts (quality leadership) at customer companies. Work diligently to resolve customer issues in a timely manner and improve communication. Responsible for maintaining a cost-effective quality system that meets customers’ requirements and other product approvals. Provide quality support for customer quality audits, customer source audits, customers’ failure analysis, customer design reviews, and sales visits. Act as a liaison with external parties on matters relating to the quality system and product quality
Skills & Abilities
Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school): Required
Experience: 15 plus years of experience in Aerospace
Computer Programming Platforms, SPC programs, and Simulators
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office
Salary Range $75,000/Year
- Quality System Improvement: Improve the company's Quality performance by facilitating a transition from a reactive quality system relying on inspection to a proactive type of quality system that is integrated into the manufacturing process, eliminating quality issues at the source. This will include: a) Reviewing the entire quality system and processes and making changes as necessary. b) Establish/maintain and manage process improvement metrics to ensure a reduction in customer escapes to near zero. c) Focus on using root cause analysis and corrective action to eliminate quality issues. d) Working closely with the engineering and operations organizations to build a quality focus into their processes. e) Reviewing all program plans prior to production for quality compliance. f) Conducting and coordinating required product inspections and ensure products are up to customer quality standards. g) Reducing customer escapes, including the reduction of specific incidents and number of defective products per total products shipped. Assure completion of root cause and corrective action analysis when escapes occur, and ensure that the process in place is effective and efficient. h) Overseeing quality processes during production.
- Reviewing the entire Quality process and identifying which key metrics need to be established in order to improve overall quality. Metrics to be measured include scrap, rework, first pass yield, cost of quality, cost of poor quality, and escapes.
- Integrating the Quality Metrics into the company’s new ERP System, ensuring that the system is providing the information needed to fully measure the company’s quality performance.
- Implementing metrics into the organization and gaining buy-in from Managers throughout the company so that each organization will take ownership over their metrics performance. Lead training as necessary for all departments to ensure all employees understand how and why metrics are measured.
- As metrics are established, identify areas for improvement and make the necessary changes to ensure improvements are taking place.
