Reports to: Office of Pupil Services
Start Date: August 24, 2026
Salary Range: $18-$21.50/hr
Position Summary:
Leominster Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Attendance Officer to support district efforts in reducing chronic absenteeism. This individual will work closely with families, school staff, and community partners to conduct home visits, promote consistent school attendance, and strengthen family engagement for students identified as at-risk for chronic absenteeism.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct home visits for students with excessive or unexcused absences to assess barriers to attendance.- Build trust and maintain ongoing communication with families to support student re-engagement.
- Collaborate with school-based teams, including counselors, nurses, and administrators, to identify at-risk students.
- Provide resources and referrals to families as appropriate (e.g., mental health support, transportation assistance).
- Maintain accurate documentation of visits, contacts, and interventions in accordance with district policies.
- Monitor attendance data and report patterns or concerns to appropriate staff.
- Promote positive attendance messaging and serve as a liaison between home and school. Other duties assigned by Office of Pupil Services
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor’s degree in social work, education, or a related field preferred.- Experience working with children, families, and diverse communities.
- Bilingual or multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
