Role Summary
The Lab Technician I will perform routine diagnostic testing in a fast-paced, high-throughput laboratory environment. This role supports veterinary diagnostics by preparing and analyzing biological specimens, operating automated laboratory equipment, and maintaining accurate documentation while adhering to established quality and regulatory standards. You will collaborate closely with veterinarians, scientists, and laboratory staff to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable test results.

Role Summary
The Lab Technician I will perform routine diagnostic testing in a fast-paced, high-throughput laboratory environment. This role supports veterinary diagnostics by preparing and analyzing biological specimens, operating automated laboratory equipment, and maintaining accurate documentation while adhering to established quality and regulatory standards. You will collaborate closely with veterinarians, scientists, and laboratory staff to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable test results.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare biological specimens for testing across multiple disciplines including hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, endocrinology, parasitology, cytology, coagulation, and serology
- Operate high-throughput analyzers, microscopes, and diagnostic instrumentation to process blood, serum, urine, and fecal samples
- Perform laboratory testing, review results, and release findings in accordance with SOPs and quality standards
- Conduct routine and non-routine analyzer maintenance and perform basic troubleshooting
- Review and approve quality control data including daily QC reports and Levey-Jennings charts
- Handle, store, document, and dispose of biological specimens and biohazardous waste in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Maintain clean, organized laboratory workspaces and complete all required logs and documentation
- Prepare specimens for shipment to offsite testing facilities in accordance with DOT and regulatory standards
- Receive, store, and manage laboratory supplies and inventory
- Operate and maintain secondary lab equipment including centrifuges, pipettes, heating blocks, and slide stainers
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1–2 years of experience in a clinical or diagnostic laboratory setting
- Working knowledge in one or more of the following preferred: hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, endocrinology, parasitology, or cytology
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Proficiency with laboratory equipment and software systems
- Experience with LIS and comfort navigating digital lab platforms
- Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
