The Elementary School Music Teacher provides engaging, developmentally appropriate music
instruction to students in grades Pre-K–5, building students’ skills through singing, movement,
listening, instruments, and music literacy while strengthening foundational concepts in rhythm,
melody, and musical expression. The teacher develops strong ensemble habits, fosters creativity,
collaboration, and social-emotional growth, and creates a positive, inclusive learning environment
that encourages all students to participate in music. Children’s literature is often used as a
springboard for musical storytelling, and the role supports student growth that transfers to band and
chorus, where students further develop musicianship and teamwork. The teacher also prepares
students for performances and school-wide events.
Individual instrumental lessons at the 4th and 5th grade levels
This position involves significant involvement beyond the school day including:
● chorus club before school (stipended position)
● evening concerts
Qualifications:
Experience at the elementary school level
Experience with both chorus and instrumental
Must be (or have the ability to become) MA certified in Music for grades Pre-K to 9
COMPENSATION: Per Unit A contract – Exhibit A 2026-27 Salary Scale
Lenox Public Schools is committed to professional growth. Newly hired teachers are eligible for
tuition and fee reimbursement for a Master's degree, equivalent to the tuition and fees at
Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, in accordance with district policy.
