The Pool Desk Attendant is responsible for providing excellent customer service to patrons at the outdoor pool. This includes processing admissions, memberships, and concession sales, handling transactions, answering questions, and maintaining an organized and welcoming front desk area. The cashier ensures that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly, and courteous service at all times. They will greet members and guests with energy and a genuine smile while checking in at the outdoor pool, assisting patrons, and processing concession purchases.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patrons in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring they receive responsive, courteous service.
- Check in guests with passes and/or daily walk-in fees, processing payments via cash, check, or bank cards. Bank out and balance daily transactions.
- Handle cash, credit card, and other payment transactions accurately and responsibly.
- Answer questions and provide information regarding pool schedules, programs, and facility policies.
- Maintain an organized and clean front desk area, ensuring promotional materials and signage are updated.
- Monitor guest entry to ensure all patrons have paid and are adhering to facility rules.
- Assist with membership verification and check-in procedures.
- Act as a cashier and distribute concession purchases, including inventory of products.
- Communicate effectively with pool staff, including lifeguards and supervisors, regarding any customer concerns or issues.
- Follow all safety and operational procedures as directed by the park district.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Applicants must be 16 years of age or older in compliance with Illinois Child Labor Laws and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
- Previous customer service or cashier experience preferred but not required. Ability to accurately handle cash, operate a point-of-sale system, and balance transactions while delivering professional and courteous customer service.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic math skills and ability to handle transactions accurately.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and work in an outdoor or warm indoor environment.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, some bending, kneeling, and reaching items off floor and high shelves is required. Performing repetitive hand/arm movements as when working on computer keyboards, calculators or writing reports, etc. Sitting or standing for sustained periods of time while completing work at desk may include exposure to heat, humidity, and noise.
