About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Mid-Level Mechanical Designer to join our engineering team. This is a 3D modeling-centric role where your primary focus will be on product development, design iteration, and complex mechanical assemblies using SolidWorks. You will work in close collaboration with our Research & Development team, utilizing your hands-on technical skills to prototype, test, and bring new concepts to life. While you will be responsible for some layout work, the core of this position is dedicated to advanced 3D design.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Development & SolidWorks Design: Lead the design and development of new products using SolidWorks. Create detailed 3D models, complex assemblies, and engineering documentation as the primary driver of our product innovation.
- Hands-on R&D: Participate directly in R&D activities. Utilize your hands-on experience to prototype, test, and iterate on design concepts within the shop environment.
- 3D Printing & Prototyping: Leverage your extensive knowledge of 3D printing to drive rapid prototyping, design validation, and efficient manufacturing workflows.
- Layout Drawings: Support specific project requirements by creating and finalizing professional layout drawings for customers using AutoCAD, as needed.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs meet engineering standards and perform technical problem-solving to improve product performance and design efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree (or equivalent two-year technical degree) in CAD/Drafting, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
- Experience: 3 years of professional experience in CAD design, with a strong focus on 3D modeling and mechanical design.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced, expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks is required for product development. Professional proficiency in AutoCAD is required for layout support.
- R&D Experience: Demonstrated experience working within an R&D environment, including hands-on involvement in product testing and development.
- Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of 3D printing technologies, manufacturing processes, materials, and best practices.
- Office Skills: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) for reporting and documentation.
Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, and a detail-oriented, engineering-focused mindset.
