Lee County is looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative GIS Coordinator to support County departments with high-quality GIS data, mapping, and technical expertise. In this role, you will help maintain the County’s central geodatabase, create and update GIS datasets, and support staff through training, data sharing, and map production.
You’ll work closely with County departments, partner agencies, and the public while using ESRI tools, spatial analysis, and GIS best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities
What You Will Do:
- Coordinate with County staff to develop and maintain content in SDE, ArcGIS Online, and Enterprise Portal
- Maintain consistent naming, metadata, tagging, and pop-up conventions across platforms
- Conduct data mining, research, scrubbing, and analysis
- Perform complex queries using SQL for querying and managing data
- Read, interpret, and map legal descriptions using Coordinate Geometry (COGO) editing tools in ArcGIS Pro
- Distribute GIS data, LiDAR data, and maps upon request to County staff, other agencies, and the public
- Facilitate GIS projects, including scope, data design and collection, and data presentation
- Create printed and digital map products, graphics, and reports
- Provide training and support to County staff on using Esri software and products
- Stay current with emerging trends in GIS technology and best practices
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and techniques
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Education, Experience, Licensing
What We’re Looking For:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to:
- Bachelor’s degree in geography, planning, engineering, or a related field
- Two (2) years of experience in GIS or a closely related field
- Related experience may include:
- GIS technician, GIS analyst, or GIS intern roles
- Creating, editing, and maintaining GIS datasets
- Using Esri ArcGIS products, such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise Portal
- Converting CAD files, spreadsheets, or legal descriptions into GIS data
- Spatial analysis, map production, or geodatabase maintenance
- Working with aerial imagery, LiDAR, elevation data, or metadata
- Reading and interpreting plats, site plans, or legal descriptions (COGO)
- Database management or SQL query work
- Surveying, geomatics, or field data collection
- Supporting GIS users, training staff, or handling data requests
- IT experience related to mapping, databases, or data systems
Additional skills that will help you succeed:
- Ability to read legal descriptions and create boundaries using COGO tools
- Ability to build apps using Survey123, Experience Builder, Quick Capture, or Instant Apps
- Strong time management and attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate with County staff, partner agencies, and the public
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
- Valid Florida Driver’s License is preferred.
Supplemental Information
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Salary : $61,612 - $78,000
