JOB TITLE: HVAC Mechanic
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor/ Plant Operations Director
DEPARTMENT: Plant Operations
Primary Purpose:
Responsible for maintenance, repair, fabrication, controls and installation of heating, ventilation, cooling and refrigeration for Lee County School System. Provide support to plant operations department and mechanics.

Performs other assigned duties to support other areas of department during absences or staff shortages
Requires flexibility and understanding that all maintenance staff are required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Plant Operations Department and Lee County Board of Education

Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Georgia Driver's License
- Maintain appropriate driving record for insurability
- Must maintain EPA Section 608 Certification
- Demonstrate aptitude for successfully performing tasks assigned
- Demonstrate ability to work and to get along with people
- General Maintenance Skills
- HVAC systems and control skills
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems
- Assist in all areas of maintenance
- Perform and assist co-workers with task associated with maintenance of facilities
- Climb and work from ladder or elevated platforms
- Maintain work vehicle and tools in clean and good working order
- Maintain accurate record of daily activities
- Clean-up work area after work completed
- Be prompt, timely and through in completing assigned task
- Meets attendance standards and complies with departmental rules
- Communicates with school staff and departmental staff
- Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business
- Complies with district policies as well as local, state and federal rules and regulations
- Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment
- Operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures
- Ensures that equipment is in safe operating condition
- Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform duties
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any condition that is not correctable to supervisor
