Since 1935, Lee Construction Company of the Carolinas has been a well-established general contractor performing heavy highway and bridge work in the Carolinas and is seeking a Yard and Shop Supervisor for its Pineville, NC location. Typical work schedule for this position is 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM., M - F. Candidates shall have a minimum 5 years’ experience and knowledge of; construction equipment, materials, trucking, dispatch, material delivery, loading and unloading of trucks, quality and inventory control, safety & EEO. All experienced applicants with all aspects of heavy/highway construction, industrial, warehouse and mechanics shall be considered. Duties
- Supervise daily shop activities, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of repairs and services
- Coordinate with technicians to prioritize jobs involving dealership experience, fabrication, or heavy equipment operation
- Oversee the inspection and maintenance of vehicles and equipment, including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
- Review schematics, OEM manuals, and technical diagrams to support diagnostics and repairs
- Ensure compliance with safety standards such as air brake systems, hydraulics, suspension systems, and electrical safety protocols
- Manage inventory of hand tools, power tools, spare parts, and repair supplies to optimize shop operations
- Provide guidance on complex repairs including transmissions, diesel engines, welding projects, tire service, and HVAC systems
Experience
- Proven experience in dealership or automotive repair environments with a focus on heavy equipment or industrial machinery
- Strong mechanical knowledge across vehicle maintenance, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and electrical diagnostics
- Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, or tractor-trailers
- Skilled in reading schematics and OEM manuals for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team of technicians or mechanics in a fast-paced setting
- Familiarity with welding techniques, soldering processes, and equipment repair procedures
- Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
