General Description:
Role Description
The Estimator is responsible for managing, estimating and bidding on DOT or heavy highway projects in South and North Carolina. Estimator will work out of our Pineville, NC office, 633 Eagleton Downs Drive, Pineville, NC 28134.
Key Duties:
- Review and understand project bid documents including plans and specifications.
- Be familiar with bid solicitation, purchase orders, subcontract, cost reports and budgets.
- Ability to produce accurate estimates (HCSS) from conceptual and schematic drawings.
- Attend any pre-bid and post-bid meetings required.
- Contact and follow-up with suppliers and subcontractors to solicit quotations for each project.
Qualification:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Legally eligible to work in the US
- Able to pass a drug test
- 4 year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent.
- 3 years estimating for a Bridge Contractor preferably bidding on DOT jobs in the Carolinas.
- HCSS HeavyBid experienced and project management is preferred.
- Travel within the Carolinas is required.

- Strong skills in Cost Estimation, Quantity Takeoffs, and Budgeting
- Proficiency in Blueprint Reading, Construction Documentation, and Project Analysis
- Experience with Bidding Processes, Vendor Coordination, and Contract Review
- Familiarity with Construction Software and Estimation Tools
- Experience with HCSS Construction Software
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred
- Experience in bridge construction or infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and local building codes
