Temporary Accounting Associate

About the RoleWe're seeking a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to support day‑to‑day accounting operations, month‑end close, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, collaborative, and proactive-someone who anticipates needs, improves processes, and communicates clearly across teams. Experience with grants accounting and NetSuite is strongly preferred.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Ledger & ClosePrepare and post journal entries; maintain accruals, deferrals, and reallocations.Reconcile balance sheet accounts (cash, A/R, A/P, prepaid, fixed assets).Assist with month‑end close to deliver timely, accurate financial statements.Accounts Payable & ReceivableReview invoices for proper coding, approvals, and compliance with policies.Process vendor payments (ACH, checks, wires) and manage vendor statements.Support invoicing, collections follow‑up, and cash application.Grants Accounting (Preferred)Track grant budgets, spending, and restricted vs. unrestricted funds.Prepare grant drawdowns, reimbursement requests, and funder reports.Ensure compliance with grant terms, allowability, and documentation standards.Compliance & ReportingAssist with audit schedules and PBC requests; maintain supporting documentation.Support tax filings (e.g., 1099s) and regulatory reporting as applicable.Process ImprovementIdentify opportunities to streamline workflows and automate recurring tasks.Document procedures and strengthen internal controls.Cross‑Functional SupportPartner with Operations, FP&A, and Program teams on allocations, budget vs. actuals, and variance explanations.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.1-4 years of progressive accounting experience (staff or equivalent).Solid understanding of GAAP; strong reconciliation and analytical skills.Intermediate to advanced Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables).Experience with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite strongly preferred).All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
