What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Ledgent Finance & Accounting?
Ledgent Finance and Accounting has an immediate need for a Sr Accountant with a prominent manufacturing partner of ours in the Golden Valley area!
- Pay: $45-$55/hr
- Mon-Fri 8am-5pm (flexible)
- Contract to Hire
- ASAP Start.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and record depreciation.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and other general ledger accounts.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Support external audits and coordinate requests from auditors.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Review and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial processes.
- Partner with operational leaders to provide financial analysis and business insights.
- Assist with sales and use tax filings, property taxes, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Support ERP system enhancements, process automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on accounting matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 4 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
