Position: Payroll Clerk / Payroll Specialist Location: Benicia, CA - 100% Onsite Duration: Temp-to-Hire Pay: $27-33/hour (Depending on Experience)About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk / Payroll Specialist to join our client in Benicia. This position plays a key role in accurately processing weekly payroll and supporting compliance requirements. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.Compensation Structure$27-29/hour: For candidates with 1-3 years of payroll experience (general payroll clerk experience).$30-33/hour: For candidates with 5 years of payroll experience, including:Construction industry payrollUnion reportingCertified payrollProcessing payroll for up to 400 employees per week independentlyKey ResponsibilitiesProcess weekly payroll accurately and on time for a high-volume employee populationManage union payroll, fringe benefits, and deductionsPrepare and submit certified payroll reportsMaintain employee payroll records and resolve discrepanciesEnsure compliance with federal, state, and union requirementsCollaborate with HR and accounting teams as neededQualifications1-3 years of payroll experience (construction payroll experience highly preferred)Experience with union payroll and certified payroll strongly desiredAbility to process payroll for large employee groups independentlyStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsProficiency with payroll software and ExcelAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
