ControllerLocation: San Diego, CA (Hybrid/Flexible)Compensation: $150,000-$180,000 base discretionary bonusEmployment Type: Direct Hire or Temp-to-HirePosition OverviewThe Controller will oversee the company's accounting operations and financial reporting processes, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will lead a remote accounting team, manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, and serve as a key liaison between leadership, auditors, and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on financial leader with strong technical accounting skills, a background in mortgage or lending industries, and experience supporting a growing organization.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and support the accounting team (14 total, primarily in Cleveland)Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting cyclesEnsure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAPManage general ledger, consolidations, and intercompany transactionsPartner with executive leadership to support forecasting and business performance trackingInterface directly with external auditors and lending counterpartiesMaintain and improve accounting systems, internal controls, and financial processesCollaborate with the CEO on budgeting, planning, and financial strategyQualifications8 years of progressive accounting experience, including management-level oversightProven ability to lead close processes and prepare GAAP-compliant financialsStrong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work across departmentsPreferred:Experience within the mortgage, lending, or financial services industryKnowledge of Loan Vision softwareExposure to multi-entity or distributed team environmentsAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
