What are the responsibilities and job description for the WMS Analyst position at Learn Beyond Consulting LLC?
Title: WMS Analyst
Location: North East, MD
Job Description:
- Serve as the on-floor point of contact for WMS-related issues raised by warehouse associates, supervisors, and shift leads.
- Analyse WMS-to-OMS/ERP/TMS interface issues (e.g., inventory sync failures, order status mismatches) and coordinate resolution with technical teams.
- Act as the liaison between warehouse operations leadership and the IT/applications team — translating operational pain points into prioritized system requests and translating technical constraints back into plain language for operations.
- Track issue trends and proactively flag recurring problems that indicate a deeper system or process gap.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual workarounds through system configuration or process changes.
- Support peak season readiness planning (volume stress-testing, configuration reviews, contingency planning).
- Contribute to post-incident reviews and help implement preventive measures.
Required Qualifications:
- 7 years of experience supporting a Warehouse Management System (WMS) in a live warehouse/distribution center environment (e.g., Manhattan, Blue Yonder/JDA, FDM4 or similar).
- Solid understanding of core warehouse operations and order journey: receiving, put-away, replenishment, wave planning, picking, packing, shipping, and cycle counting.
- Hands-on experience with RF/handheld scanning devices and troubleshooting device-level issues.
- Working knowledge of SQL for data investigation and reporting (able to write and modify queries independently).
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with warehouse floor staff and translate operational issues into clear, actionable system requirements.
- Comfortable working on-site in a warehouse environment, including time on the floor (not a desk-only role).
- Strong communication skills — able to explain technical issues to non-technical operations staff and operational context to technical teams.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build trust and strong working relationships across warehouse floor staff, supervisors, and technical teams — someone people want to come to with a problem.
- Experience with WMS integrations to OMS, TMS, or ERP systems and understanding of interface/event-driven data flows (e.g., EDI, APIs, message queues).
- Experience supporting peak-season volume events (e.g., holiday retail surge) in a warehouse setting.
