Access Controls/Low Voltage Technician

As a trusted partner in the construction industry, we connect top talent with top companies across the United States.Job Type: ContractPay: $25 to $40 Per Hour BOEAn Access Control Technician installs, maintains, and repairs electronic security systems like card readers, biometrics, and electronic locks, ensuring controlled building entry; they program software, troubleshoot hardware/network issues, perform preventative maintenance, collaborate with IT/security, and train users, requiring skills in low-voltage wiring, networking, and strong customer service. Key Responsibilities:Installation & Configuration: Set up and configure new access control, CCTV, and intrusion systems, including wiring and device programming (card readers, locks, cameras).Maintenance & Repair: Conduct regular checks, troubleshoot hardware/software failures, and perform timely repairs or upgrades.System Management: Program access permissions, customize security settings, and manage user databases.Integration: Work with IT to integrate systems (like CCTV, alarms) with other security infrastructure.Documentation: Maintain accurate records of system configurations, changes, and maintenance activities.Customer Support: Train end-users and clients on system operation and professionally represent the company.Compliance: Ensure systems meet security standards and regulations. Essential Skills & QualificationsTechnical: Experience with access control hardware (locks, readers), low-voltage wiring, cabling (Cat5e, Coax), networking, IP/analog CCTV, and PC skills.Software: Proficiency in configuring access control software.Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.Soft Skills: Excellent communication, customer service, and teamwork.Certifications (Helpful): CompTIA, ESA, or specific manufacturer certifications. Work EnvironmentCommercial buildings, government facilities, corporate campuses.Physical Requirements:Must be able to sit, stand, talk or hear, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, stretch, twist, and/or reach out for prolonged periods of time  Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at waist height for short distances, and occasionally up to 75 pounds.  Overhead lifting: Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds overhead for short distances  Must be able to push, pull and move up to 75 pounds at shoulder height  Dexterity of hands and fingers to use tools  Must be able to regularly carry and climb ladders up to 20 feet  Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics  Ability to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time  Must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones  Must know the universal communications color codes  Must be able to work in tight, confided spaces at times  Must be able to travel within territory as needed  Must be aware of OSHA safety standards  Noise levels are typically moderatePay TransparencyThe anticipated salary range for this position is $25 to $40 Per Hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location.
