Spotter

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Spotter in Akron, OH. The Spotter is responsible for providing critical safety oversight during the movement of heavy equipment and materials on construction sites. This role focuses on maintaining clear communication with operators to prevent accidents and ensure the protection of personnel, property, and equipment.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $18 to $25 Per Hour BOE

Responsibilities:

• Direct the movement of heavy equipment and lifting machinery using standardized hand signals and radio communication
• Maintain constant visual contact with equipment operators and the surrounding work environment to ensure safe clearance
• Identify and alert operators to potential hazards such as overhead power lines, underground utilities, or ground-level obstructions
• Monitor and enforce safe exclusion zones to ensure unauthorized personnel do not enter active work areas
• Assist in the proper positioning of equipment for optimal safety and operational efficiency
• Verify that loads are properly secured and balanced prior to any hoisting or transport activities
• Halt all site operations immediately if an unsafe condition, potential collision, or hazard is identified
• Maintain high levels of situational awareness in a fast-paced and high-risk construction environment

Qualifications:

• Prior experience working as a spotter, signalperson, or construction laborer on a commercial or industrial site
• Proficiency in standardized hand signals for various types of heavy equipment and cranes
• Demonstrated ability to maintain focus and situational awareness over long periods
• Strong verbal communication skills for effective coordination with equipment operators
• Working knowledge of basic construction site safety protocols and OSHA standards
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team to ensure site-wide safety compliance

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and remain mobile for the duration of a shift on uneven terrain
• Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Exposure to outdoor environments and variable weather conditions including extreme heat and cold
• Excellent visual acuity and depth perception to accurately judge distances and equipment clearance
• Hearing sensitivity to distinguish between various site sounds, alarms, and vocal commands

Pay Transparency:

The anticipated pay range for this position is $18 to $25 per hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
