Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Data Center Technicians at the entry and apprentice level to support the physical infrastructure of a large-scale, long-term data center construction project in Santa Teresa, NM. This role is ideal for motivated individuals looking to build a career in technical trades by assisting with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems and mission-critical hardware under the direction of licensed journeymen. Candidates with 0 to 2 years of experience in structured cabling, telecommunications, or a related skilled trade are strongly encouraged to apply.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $24 to $28 Per Hour BOE

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the installation, routing, and securing of structured cabling systems including fiber optic and copper infrastructure.
• Support scheduled data center Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) including device labeling and network cable connectivity.
• Execute hardware installations involving equipment stacking, rack mounting, and power connectivity.
• Conduct asset management tasks including auditing equipment and maintaining daily work logs and ticket tracking.
• Coordinate equipment and material receiving, shipping, and unboxing in accordance with project schedules.
• Support the termination and testing of cabling infrastructure under the direct supervision of senior technicians.
• Maintain site security protocols and adhere to all safety standards to ensure a safe and secure operating environment.
• Provide general site maintenance including cleaning raised floors, cabinet exteriors, and work benches.
• Follow the direction of licensed journeymen to ensure all work complies with applicable industry codes and customer requirements.
• Participate in phased deployment plans which may include temporary assignments at alternate project sites.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.
• 0 to 2 years of experience in structured cabling, telecommunications, or a related skilled trade preferred.
• Basic knowledge of server or network hardware components and copper and fiber cabling infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret basic floor plans, technical drawings, and cable schedules.
• Aptitude for manual labor and the use of basic hand and power tools.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a large-scale team environment.
• Flexibility to travel to alternate project locations as part of a phased staffing approach.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds frequently.
• Ability to work at heights, off of ladders, and in confined or restricted spaces.
• Capable of standing, walking, bending, and reaching for prolonged periods during an 8-hour shift.
• Must be able to see and distinguish different colors for cable identification and read small print.
• Ability to work in various construction site conditions including extreme temperatures and dust exposure.
• Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers for terminating and handling small components.

Pay Transparency:

The anticipated pay range for this position is $24 to $28 per hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
