POSITION TITLE: Controller
POSITION SUMMARY: This is an excellent opportunity for a financial leader to play a pivotal role in shaping a financial strategy and ensuring the accuracy of our financial reporting. The Controller reports directly to the Vice President of Finance and will be responsible for managing and overseeing all facets of accounting operations, including establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Manage a team of accounting professionals with three direct reports: an Accounting Supervisor, a Credit & Collections Manager, as well as an Accounting Manager who oversees the offshore team.
- Work with GL team to manage the month end close and ensure that all monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines are met.
- Assist in the preparation and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial reporting.
- Assist in the preparation and analyze monthly forecasts.
- Prepare and analyze key performance indicators and Executive Team dashboard reporting.
- Lead the annual budget process.
- Identify process issues that lead to improper transactions in the general ledger.
- Work with department heads as necessary to improve key internal controls and ensure that we are following best practices.
- Troubleshoot and improve operational deficiencies that could result in improper financial reporting.
- Provide GAAP guidance to accounting staff and department heads as necessary.
- Keep up to date with new accounting pronouncements that could impact financial reporting.
- Review and analyze general ledger account reconciliations.
- Utilize BI Tool to streamline financial reporting and build new financial reporting (i.e. cash flow forecast, cash flow statement, summary of major expenses, etc.).
- Provide guidance to both AR and AP departments as needed and ensure that staff is at operational efficiency.
- Assist Credit and Collections Manager on establishing credit terms and releasing orders as needed.
- Liaise with the bank and CPA firm on all major bank and accounting issues.
- Manage the year end audit and prepare supporting schedules as needed.
- Manage bank audits and other audits as needed.
- Identify risks that could have a material impact on bank covenants.
- Manage all areas of Treasury Management and maximize cashflows
- Partner with IT department to automate various manual processes and assist with major IT initiatives as needed.
- Manage the cash flows of the operations.
- Ensure that all government and tax compliance requirements are met.
- Review agreements and contracts as needed.
- Assist VP of Finance with various special accounting projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- U.S. bachelor's degree from four-year accredited college or university in a major related to accounting
- Minimum of 7 years' work experience as a Controller at a company with minimum revenues of $100M
- Minimum of 3 years' work experience in public accounting at a national firm
- CPA license. If inactive, must convert to active within 2 years of employment
- Experience in manufacturing and/or distribution industries preferred
- Excellent GAAP knowledge and ability to teach accounting concepts to non-accountants
- Hybrid position preferred
PAY TRANSPARENCY: A reasonable estimate of the available {annual or hourly} pay scale for this position is: $150,000.00-175,000.00 . The actual compensation offered may vary depending on qualifications and other factors essential to the performance of duties and is determined by the hiring authority.
