CLIENT PARTNER PROFILE & VALUE PROPOSITION: Leapros has been engaged by highly regarded food manufacturer in the Inland Empire, Southern CA to fill a, Assistant Controller role.
POSITION TITLE: Assistant Controller
POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Controller is responsible for supporting the month-end close cycle by providing timely and accurate reports, data and information necessary to the Controller/CFO. This position will also assist in identifying gaps in our business processes and driving process improvements. This role will focus on the development of all financial reporting related to month-end, forecasts, budgets and dashboards. They will be an integral part of the forecast and budget process.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Assist/support all aspects of the accounting cycle and accounting transactions related to the month end/year end close process and drive process improvement.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Responsible for Month End consolidations.
- Coordinate analysis across different functions, business areas and locations.
- Lead the Annual Budget and Monthly Forecast Process.
- Recommend process improvements across the department to include AP, AR & General Accounting
- Hands on Analysis of daily/monthly financial transactions
- Assist/Support all account reconciliations.
- Assist in financial training and development of accounting staff.
- Assist with the Creation, update and implementation of all necessary accounting policies, procedures and standards and ensure adherence to GAAP.
- Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
- Ensure all the financial systems and controls meet requirements and are in line with all relevant legislation and financial reporting guidelines.
- Support internal/external audits in conjunction with Corporate Controller.
- Perform ad hoc projects and assist in all areas of operation as requested by the CFO and Controller.
- Manage the preparation of monthly business unit and consolidated financial statements.
- Create and manage the preparation of weekly and monthly reports to support departmental and business needs.
- Prepare detailed internal financial reports, including researching and explaining significant variances by working closely with various departments and management.
- Provide ad hoc financial reports, tables, exhibits as requested.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements monthly, including income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows.
- Serve as the primary backup for payroll processing in ADP WFN.
- Interface with other functional areas to ensure reporting integrity and accuracy for our new General Ledger.
- Partner with Management & Investors for analysis, planning and reporting needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting; Advanced Degree a plus
- Experience with manufacturing accounting, preferable food manufacturing
- Payroll experience required and exposure to ADP Workforce Now
- Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, cash flow, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Lease accounting expertise required, specifically ASC842
- Advanced experience working in Microsoft tools (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint)
- Mindset of continuous process improvements with focus on questioning the status quo
- Experience with automated accounting systems is required
- Recent leadership experience preferred
PAY TRANSPARENCY: A reasonable estimate of the available {annual or hourly} pay scale for this position is: $140,000-$150,000 per year. The actual compensation offered may vary depending on qualifications and other factors essential to the performance of duties and is determined by the hiring authority.
