HVAC Technician
Position Summary
We are hiring a full-time HVAC Technician to support a large manufacturing and engineering facility in Rockford, IL. This role is a great fit for someone early in their HVAC career who wants to grow their technical skills in a stable, team-oriented environment.
You'll help maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems and facility equipment while working alongside experienced technicians.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration repairs on HVAC and related facility equipment with minimal supervision.
- Troubleshoot and repair heating, cooling, ventilation, pneumatic, and control systems.
- Maintain boilers, air handling units, chillers, air conditioning units, and associated mechanical systems.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Inspect, clean, replace, and repair HVAC components as needed.
- Install new equipment and assist with relocation of existing systems and machinery.
- Respond to maintenance service calls and support facility repair operations.
- Utilize electrical meters, diagnostic tools, and HVAC testing equipment safely and effectively.
- Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, refrigeration drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Properly complete maintenance work requests and maintain accurate service documentation.
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain clean, organized work areas.
- Work indoors and outdoors, including rooftops, mechanical spaces, and elevated work areas when required.
- Support team operations and assist other maintenance personnel as needed.
- Attend company-sponsored training and work overtime when required.
Required Experience / Skills
- 3–7 years of experience in commercial or industrial HVAC maintenance, facility maintenance, or related technical environments.
- Experience troubleshooting HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
- Experience working with electrical systems including 3-phase and 480V equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot pneumatic and electrical control systems.
- Experience with boilers, chillers, air handlers, and commercial HVAC systems.
- Ability to use HVAC diagnostic tools, electrical testing equipment, and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Proficiency with brazing and soldering.
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to safely work at heights and in industrial environments.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
- EPA Universal Certification or CFC Certification required or ability to obtain.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- OSHA certification
- Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, or large commercial facilities
- Experience with boilers, controls, or commercial HVAC systems
- Trade school or technical HVAC training
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- HVAC or technical trade school preferred

- Rockford, IL
- Must be able to pass a government background screening
Compensation & Benefits
