An established national real estate investment and property management organisation is seeking a Junior Operations Attorney to join its in-house legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for a litigation attorney looking to transition into an in-house role, working alongside experienced legal professionals and partnering with operational teams across a large and diverse property portfolio.
Reporting to senior legal leadership, you will provide practical legal advice on a broad range of operational matters, supporting the business in managing litigation, mitigating risk, and navigating day-to-day legal issues in a fast-paced commercial environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal support to operational and business teams on a variety of litigation and risk management matters.
- Manage and oversee civil litigation matters from initial claim through to resolution, working closely with external counsel where appropriate.
- Advise internal stakeholders on legal risks relating to property operations and day-to-day business activities.
- Review claims, assess liability, and develop practical strategies to resolve disputes efficiently and commercially.
- Support the business on employment-related matters, insurance claims, premises liability issues, and other operational legal matters as required.
- Assist with reviewing and drafting legal correspondence, settlement agreements, and other operational documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify legal risks and develop proactive solutions that support business objectives.
- Monitor developments in relevant areas of law and provide practical guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to the continued development of legal processes and best practices across the organisation.
Ideal Background
- J.D. from an accredited law school with active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
- Approximately 2–4 years of civil litigation experience, ideally gained within a law firm environment.
- Defence litigation experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical, drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously while delivering practical, commercially focused legal advice.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to work directly with business stakeholders.
- Motivated to develop an in-house legal career within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
