The Role
We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance & EHS Manager to lead a Quality Assurance, Environmental, and Occupational Safety programs. This is a key leadership position reporting directly to the General Manager. You will oversee a dual-function team and ensure all projects meet strict Navy and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, mentor, and manage the QA, NDT, and Safety inspection team
- Set department goals, track KPIs, and drive continuous improvement
- Lead weekly team meetings and collaborate closely with Production
- Maintain ISO 9001:2015 certification and lead annual management reviews
Quality & Technical Oversight
- Review job specifications and blueprints to determine inspection requirements for bids
- Prepare and submit Test Inspection Plans (TIPs) and Process Control Procedures (PCPs) to government stakeholders
- Oversee welding procedure qualifications and maintain welder/brazer qualification records
- Host annual SWRMC audits of the Quality Management System (QMS) and welding programs
- Manage calibration of all inspection tools and equipment
EHS & Compliance
- Oversee environmental compliance, including Air Pollution and Stormwater reporting
- Ensure all shipboard and facility work meets EHS policies and procedures
- Perform internal audits and surveillance for safety and quality compliance
Shipboard & Field Operations
- Conduct ship checks and support project pre-planning
- Participate in checkpoints and government IG/VG inspections
- Provide training to new employees, including Fit-Up Inspector and workmanship certification training
Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- 5 years of personnel management experience in maritime, ship repair, or heavy industrial environments
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Proven experience as an NDT Inspector (NDT Level III Examiner status is highly preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of Navy MIL-STD and NAVSEA Technical Publications
Skills & Physical Requirements
- Ability to work onboard ships, climb ladders/scaffolds, and work in confined spaces or at heights
- Advanced ability to read and interpret complex ship drawings and blueprints
- Strong English communication skills (read, write, speak) and basic math skills
Additional Requirements
- Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive security background check and drug screen
