Seeking a for our Memphis based client who will manage a broad range of accounting responsibilities including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger support. This is a hands-on, visible role that works closely with the CFO in a small, fast-paced business environment. This position can start as temp-to-perm or be structured as a direct hire, depending upon the candidate.
About our client: Our Memphis-based designer and distributor of racing oils and high-performance lubricants with approximately $8 million in annual revenue. While the company does not manufacture directly, it specifies its proprietary formulations to a blending partner that produces the finished product. Customers include web buyers, warehouse distributors (30–40%), and dealers nationwide. Our client maintains a positive, team-oriented culture and is experiencing strong growth.
- Reports to: CFO
- ERP Systems: QuickBooks (accounting and payroll) and Fishbowl (inventory management); the company plans to transition to NetSuite in the future.
- Work Arrangement: Fully on-site, Monday through Friday Location: Memphis, TN (on-site, near the airport – gated facility)
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of accounts receivable including invoicing, cash application, light collections, and monthly reporting.
- Handle accounts payable including PO matching, vendor invoice processing, payment scheduling, and expense report management.
- Process biweekly payroll for approximately 20 employees using QuickBooks (Tennessee and Pennsylvania).
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations including AMEX, PayPal, and related accounts.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns for multiple states using data from QuickBooks; submissions are made via each state’s tax portal.
- Assist the CFO with month-end close, including accruals, freight cost analysis, and account reviews.
- Support ongoing process improvements and system transitions, including future migration to NetSuite.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping or full-charge accounting experience
- Associate degree preferred; bachelor’s degree not required
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (NetSuite experience a plus)
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
- Dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently in a small-team setting
Schedule & Compensation
- Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday; flexibility once established
- Month-End Close: Expect increased focus during the first few days of each month
- Compensation: Target range $55,000–$65,000, commensurate with experience
- Benefits: Health Insurance (Blue Cross/Blue Shield), 2 weeks PTO, no 401(k) plan currently offered
