The Lower School Academy at Lawrence High School serves students who are making the transition from a variety of public and private middle schools in the City of Lawrence. Lawrence High School's Lower School is seeking exceptional educators to join our 9th and 10th grade teams who possess a growth mindset, value collaboration and continuous feedback, are passionate about their content, and have an unwavering belief that all students are capable of meeting rigorous academic expectations.
Position Summary
The Dean of Curriculum & Instruction is responsible for overseeing the curricular and instructional programming for the school. This includes providing direct instructional leadership to teachers, managing the school’s instructional program, supporting the management of instructional staff by providing regular feedback to teachers on their effectiveness in meeting the needs of the school’s instructional program, facilitating professional development, overseeing assessment systems, and supporting inclusion efforts for special populations. The Dean collaborates closely with the Principal and other leadership staff to drive student achievement and uphold a culture of high expectations and academic excellence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Set weekly instructional goals and conduct observations to provide real-time feedback to teachers.
• Conduct both formal and informal classroom observations and provide actionable, structured feedback regularly.
• Meet regularly with teachers to plan instruction, analyze assessments, and support curriculum development.
• Contribute to staff evaluations and participate in evaluation meetings.
• Participate in daily instructional and cultural walkthroughs with school leaders.
• Manage special education and ML/ELL programs.
• Implement internal assessment systems to monitor student progress and guide instructional planning.
• Analyze assessment data and support data-informed instructional decisions.
• Co-facilitate the Instructional Leadership Team.
• Support school leadership with operational needs, as delegated by the Principal.
• Support the school's mission by doing whatever it takes to ensure student success.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Valid Massachusetts DESE certification as a Principal/Assistant Principal (Grades 5-12 or 9-12) OR Supervisor/Director License (Grades 5-12 or 9-12)
• Possess a Master's Degree
• At least 5 years of successful secondary experience
• Evidence of professional leadership skills
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable
• Proficient in English - Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

Pay Range
• $95,446 - $117,626
