What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse (R.N.) position at Lawrence Public Schools?
Assess and manage student health needs to support educational success.
Provide nursing care, first aid, medication administration, and emergency response in accordance with district policies.
Identify and address health concerns that may impact learning, including chronic conditions, communicable diseases, nutrition issues, substance use, child abuse/neglect, and adolescent health concerns.
Collaborate with students, families, school staff, healthcare providers, and community agencies to promote student health and well-being.
Coordinate and conduct mandated health screenings, referrals, follow-up care, and immunization compliance monitoring.
Participate in multidisciplinary teams, including special education evaluations and planning for students with medical needs.
Maintain accurate student health records, documentation, reports, and health office inventory.
Promote a safe and healthy school environment through health education, disease prevention, and safety recommendations.
Perform additional nursing duties as assigned.
