Essential Job Functions
Provide direct services to clients to include:
• Provide culturally and developmentally tailored nutritional education to clients and families using motivational counseling methods
• Perform measurements (height, weight, and hemoglobin) and provide results to clients
• Provide referrals to LDCPH programs, health care providers, and other community agencies as appropriate
• Maintain records for accuracy and completeness
• Respond to phone calls from clients and the public in a timely manner, providing accurate, evidence-based information
• Follow established WIC guidelines for program compliance
• Assign interpreters for WIC appointments
• Collaborate with internal teams and community partners to provide outpatient nutrition education and breastfeeding services, as assigned
• Promote breastfeeding through counseling, education, and support; refer to lactation consultants when appropriate
• Follow the Zero Suicide framework by screening, providing support, and referring to appropriate mental health resources
