Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Executive Director for the Southwest Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) or designee, the Braille Transcriber II prepares braille transcriptions and large print required by elementary and secondary students with visual impairments who need to access educational materials in alternative formats. The Braille Transcriber II will work with and/or train anyone in the Braille Transcriber I position. The Braille Transcriber II will order, maintain, and catalog braille and large print materials.This position is an 12-month, 8 hour/day position that accumulates one paid vacation and sick day per month of employment. In addition, LESD pays 100% for employee-only health/welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, etc). Dependent coverage is at a cost to the employee. Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: * Graduation from high school, GED or higher degree. * Certification: Library of Congress Literary Certification; en route to Library of Congress Nemeth Code of Mathematics or UEB with Math * One year experience working as a braille transcriber
