Details:
- In-Person Tutoring in Long Beach, CA
- Schedule: Flexible, 2 hour session, 3-4 x a month
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience
- Must be fluent in Braille
- Proficiency in Braille; Braille Certification required
- Experience working with students with visual impairments and developmental delays.
- Background in special education, vision education, or a related field.
- Ability to support non-verbal or minimally verbal students with communication development.
- Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies.
- Familiarity with tactile learning tools and adaptive materials for blind learners.
- Knowledge of IEP goals and strategies for special education students
- Provide individualized instruction in Braille reading and writing, aligned to the student's academic level.
- Support foundational skills in literacy, math, and functional academics.
- Reinforce communication strategies and language development, adapting to the student's unique needs.
- Utilize multi-sensory and tactile learning approaches appropriate for students with visual impairments.
- Monitor and adapt instructional strategies based on student progress and engagement.
- Collaborate with the student's family and related service providers as appropriate to support consistent learning goals
