Associate Attorney – Personal Injury Litigation
Salary: $100,000–$120,000 annually, commensurate with experience
Location: Annapolis, Maryland
Position: Full-Time, In-Office
The Law Office of Nathalie Karpati is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join our growing Annapolis practice. Our primary need is for an attorney with substantial personal-injury experience who can step into an active caseload and immediately assist with the litigation of automobile accident and other personal-injury matters.
This is not an entry-level position. Candidates must have substantive personal-injury experience, including actual litigation experience. We are looking for an attorney who is comfortable handling cases after suit is filed and who understands the litigation process, deadlines, discovery requirements, and court procedures.
Our practice also handles DUI/DWI and traffic matters. Experience in these areas is preferred but is not required. An otherwise qualified personal-injury attorney should not hesitate to apply based upon a lack of DUI or traffic experience.
Responsibilities
- Handle personal-injury litigation from the filing of suit through resolution.
- Draft and file complaints, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other pleadings.
- Manage discovery, scheduling orders, statutes of limitations, court deadlines, and litigation calendars.
- Conduct legal research and prepare motions, memoranda, and written legal arguments.
- Evaluate personal-injury cases for liability, damages, litigation strategy, and settlement.
- Prepare for and participate in depositions, mediations, settlement conferences, hearings, and trials.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, insurance carriers, medical providers, experts, and court personnel.
- Negotiate personal-injury claims and litigated matters with insurance carriers and defense counsel.
- Appear in Maryland District and Circuit Courts on behalf of the firm's clients.
- Assist with DUI/DWI and traffic matters as needed.
- Work collaboratively with paralegals and legal assistants to ensure cases are properly developed and all deadlines are met.
Qualifications
- Active admission to the Maryland Bar in good standing is required.
- Actual personal-injury litigation experience, including pleadings and written discovery, is required.
- Experience with depositions, motions practice, court appearances, mediation, and trial preparation is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of Maryland civil procedure and court rules.
- Ability to independently manage an active litigation caseload and deadlines.
- Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent judgment, organization, and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and client-communication skills.
- DUI/DWI and traffic experience is preferred but not required.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $100,000–$125,000 annually, depending upon the candidate's experience and qualifications.
This is a full-time, in-office position in Annapolis, Maryland. We are seeking an experienced personal-injury attorney who can make an immediate contribution to our litigation practice and become an integral part of our growing firm.
