Junior Associate Attorney – Personal Injury and Criminal Defense
The Law Office of Nathalie Karpati is seeking a motivated Junior Associate Attorney to join our growing Annapolis practice. This position is ideal for a newly admitted attorney or an attorney early in their career who wants substantial hands-on experience in both personal-injury litigation and criminal and traffic defense.
The associate will handle personal-injury cases from the filing of suit through resolution, as well as criminal and serious traffic matters, including DUI/DWI, driving without a license, driving while suspended, and related offenses.
Responsibilities
- Draft and file personal-injury complaints, motions, discovery requests, discovery responses, and other pleadings.
- Monitor statutes of limitations, scheduling orders, discovery deadlines, and court dates.
- Conduct legal research and prepare written legal arguments.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, insurance carriers, prosecutors, court personnel, and medical providers.
- Assist with depositions, mediations, settlement conferences, hearings, and trial preparation.
- Prepare defenses in DUI/DWI, driving without a license, driving while suspended, and other criminal and traffic matters.
- Attend court appearances and represent clients as experience permits.
Qualifications
- Admission to the Maryland Bar in good standing is required.
- Recent Maryland Bar admittees are encouraged to apply.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with Maryland civil and criminal procedure.
- Excellent organization and attention to deadlines.
- Ability to handle multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional communication skills and a genuine commitment to helping clients.
- Personal-injury, criminal-defense, judicial-clerkship, or litigation-clinic experience is required.
This is a full-time, in-office position located in Annapolis, Maryland.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
