The Law Office of Nathalie Karpati is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Litigation Law Clerk to assist with filing and managing personal-injury lawsuits. Applicants must have prior hands-on experience preparing and filing personal-injury lawsuits. This is not an entry-level position.
The ideal candidate will be a law-school graduate preparing for or awaiting Maryland Bar admission who already understands the personal-injury litigation process and can begin contributing without supervision . The law clerk will also assist with criminal and serious traffic matters, including DUI/DWI, driving without a license, driving while suspended, and related offenses.
Responsibilities
- Draft personal-injury complaints and accompanying filing documents.
- Electronically file lawsuits in Maryland courts.
- Arrange for service of process and monitor service deadlines.
- Draft and respond to interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and other discovery.
- Prepare motions, oppositions, and other litigation documents.
- Monitor statutes of limitations, scheduling orders, discovery deadlines, and court dates.
- Review medical records, bills, police reports, photographs, and other evidence.
- Organize exhibits and prepare cases for depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, insurance carriers, court personnel, and medical providers.
- Maintain accurate and organized case files using Neos.
- Assist with criminal and traffic matters as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Prior hands-on experience filing and managing personal-injury lawsuits.
- Working knowledge of Maryland civil procedure and Maryland electronic filing.
- Experience drafting complaints and written discovery.
- Ability to independently organize litigation files and monitor court deadlines.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cases.
- Ability to work full-time in our Annapolis office.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two year of personal-injury experience.
- Experience working for a Maryland personal-injury law firm.
- Experience preparing cases for depositions, mediations, hearings, or trials.
This is a full-time, in-office position located in Annapolis, Maryland.
Salary: $60-70k per year, depending on directly relevant personal-injury litigation experience.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
