Pension Refund Analyst

LaSalle Network is partnering with a non-profit in Chicago, IL who is hiring a Refund Pension Analyst to support a high-volume pension operations team during a critical period. This contract Refund Pension Analyst role is ideal for someone who thrives in detail-driven work, isn’t afraid to ask questions and can confidently flag discrepancies. With an urgent need and immediate impact, this role offers exposure to pension benefits processing, audits and cross-functional collaboration.

What’s the job?

• Review refund applications and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
• Calculate and process pension refunds and benefits in a timely manner
• Conduct peer reviews of Eligibility Reports, Control Reports and documentation
• Review disability applications and supporting materials
• Perform beneficiary research and distribute death benefit applications
• Audit returned documents for compliance with plan provisions
• Communicate with members and beneficiaries to resolve missing information
• Evaluate legal documents (trusts, estates, Powers of Attorney) and assess impact on benefits
• Partner with Member Services on escalated or complex cases
• Support internal and external audit teams
• Assist with special projects as needed
  
  

What’s needed?

• Prior experience in pensions, benefits administration, auditing or financial analysis preferred
• Exceptional attention to detail and error-detection abilities
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Strong math, analytical and critical-thinking skills
• Strong research and documentation analysis skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables
• Bachelor’s degree required; benefits-related coursework preferred
