Human Resources Business Partner Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on employee relations matters, labor law compliance, and workplace policies, with a strong emphasis on California employment regulations and wage and hour practices
- Support the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, orientation, benefits communication, and offboarding processes for a largely hourly workforce
- Coach and support managers and supervisors on employee engagement initiatives, performance management, retention strategies, and day-to-day leadership practices
- Facilitate training and development sessions focused on compliance, people leadership, and best practices to strengthen management capabilities and minimize turnover
- Partner with the Director of People & Culture and operational leaders to support workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and talent initiatives
- Assist with compensation administration and performance review processes to promote consistency, equity, and alignment across teams
- Analyze turnover, attendance, and workforce trends to identify opportunities for improved retention, recruitment, and employee experience strategies
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, particularly those impacting California-based employees and non-exempt populations
- Collaborate closely with the recruiting team to support hiring efforts across multiple locations and operational functions
- Contribute to additional HR and cross-functional initiatives as needed, including team engagement activities and regional collaboration efforts
- 7 years of experience in human resources
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a HR Business Partner or HR leadership role supporting frontline, hourly, or field-based employee populations
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Organizational Development, Law, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Strong working knowledge of California labor laws, wage and hour regulations, and employment compliance requirements
- Experience supporting operational leadership teams with employee relations, workforce planning, and proactive HR guidance
- Proven ability to coach leaders through complex employee situations while fostering a positive and productive workplace culture
- Experience leveraging workforce data, including turnover and attendance metrics, to develop and implement retention initiatives
- Familiarity with Workday or similar HRIS platforms preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment when handling confidential matters
- Collaborative, customer-focused mindset with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Spanish language skills are a plus, but not required
- Compensation: $115,000-130,000 base salary with bonus eligibility
- Location: Position can be based in Goleta, Fresno or Hayward, CA and requires three days per week on-site
