About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated Instructor to provide training and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in our Independent Living Services (ILS) program. Under the guidance of the ILS Facilitator, you will help individuals develop essential life skills, increase their independence, and achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and deliver Independent Living Services to individuals in their homes and communities, based on their Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and scheduling needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including Regional Center Case Managers, family members, advocates, and individuals themselves, to ensure comprehensive support and care.
- Assist in developing and implementing ISPs, quarterly meetings, and data collection.
- Provide instruction on independent living skills, such as money management, social skills, community resource utilization, and personal care, using various teaching methods.
- Develop and maintain accurate records of services provided, client contacts, and progress toward ISP goals.
- Attend regular meetings, trainings, and other scheduled events to stay up-to-date on policies, procedures, and best practices.
Requirements:
- A minimum of an Associate's Degree or higher (experience may be substituted for education).
- At least 1 year of experience working in ILS or teaching individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- A current, valid California driver's license, and a driving record that meets agency standards.
- Familiarity with community-based services and general laws and regulations related to disability rights and benefits.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle according to California laws and regulations.
- Ability to sit for periods up to 2 hours.
- Ability to ambulate freely.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Visual acuity required for computer use and reading materials.
