Associate Oil and Gas Title Attorney

Our client is a boutique law firm headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, with a practice that is deeply rooted in the energy sector. The team provides high‑level title, transactional, and advisory services to operators, mineral buyers, and working interest owners across multiple basins. They prioritize high‑quality legal work, efficiency, and a collaborative, respectful firm culture. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Title Attorney to join our team in a fully remote capacity.

The Oil & Gas Title Attorney will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and analyzing drilling, division order, and acquisition title opinions. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and able to work independently while communicating clearly with clients and colleagues.

• Draft, review, and revise drilling title opinions (DTOs), division order title opinions (DOTO's), and supplemental opinions.
• Conduct and analyze complex mineral title and leasehold title across Texas and surrounding basins.
• Identify title defects, prepare curative requirements, and communicate findings clearly.
• Advise clients on ownership, title issues, leasing, and regulatory matters.
• Collaborate with landmen, in‑house counsel, and other attorneys as needed.
• Meet annual billable hour expectations (1,650 hours).
• Maintain a high standard of professionalism, accuracy, and efficiency in a remote working environment.
  
  

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active license in good standing (Texas license preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of dedicated oil and gas title experience, including drafting title opinions.
• Strong understanding of Texas oil and gas law, courthouse research, and mineral title chains.
• Exceptional legal writing skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Comfortable working remotely and using digital tools for document review and client collaboration.
  
  

• Experience with in-state title (multi-state is a plus; Oklahoma, New Mexico, North Dakota, etc.).
• Prior work for operators or energy‑focused law firms.
• Experience with curative drafting, transactional title review, or acquisition due diligence.
  
  

• Base salary: $150,000-$200,000, based on experience.
