About the Opportunity
A global consumer services organization is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as Assistant General Counsel - Franchise, supporting a broad range of franchise, licensing, and commercial matters across an international business. This role will partner closely with operational and executive stakeholders to provide practical legal guidance, manage contractual risk, and support strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted legal advisor on franchise, agency, licensing, and related commercial matters.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret a variety of agreements, including franchise, agency, licensing, confidentiality, and other commercial contracts.
- Oversee the preparation and maintenance of franchise disclosure materials in coordination with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
- Provide guidance regarding franchise and distribution laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support business expansion initiatives involving franchise and agency relationships.
- Identify and mitigate contractual, regulatory, and operational risks while balancing commercial objectives.
- Advise internal teams on contract administration, compliance obligations, and dispute resolution matters.
- Partner with business leaders to develop and enhance franchise governance and compliance programs.
- Assist in resolving contractual disputes and pre-litigation business issues.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited institution.
- Active bar membership in good standing and eligible to practice as in-house counsel.
- 5 years of experience advising businesses on franchising, licensing, and commercial transactions.
- Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating franchise and other commercial agreements.
- Strong understanding of franchise regulatory frameworks and related compliance requirements.
