Overview

At the Larimer County Department of Human Services, we strive to be responsive and provide timely resources in partnership with our community so that individuals and families are healthy, supported, and safe. We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic staff member to join our Children, Youth, and Family (CYF) Division as an Intake Specialist Temp.

The Division of Children, Youth, and Family is seeking individuals who want to work in a fast-paced, supportive, and positive environment, primarily providing phone intake for initial referrals to child protection and adult protection. Intake specialists spend the majority of their time on the phone taking these referrals, fielding questions from individuals within the community, and then working within different computer systems to process the information gathered from phone calls.

A temporary intake specialist can work a variety of hours per day and per week, depending on the need for coverage of shifts. Coverage of shifts can vary between the hours of 7am - 7:30pm, Monday - Friday. In addition, a temporary intake specialist may be asked to help with tasks within the department, one of which is providing transportation for children who have scheduled visitation.

This is a hybrid position, requiring at least one in-office day per week. Reliable internet access and a suitable remote workspace are needed. Larimer County provides an annual remote work stipend to support your home office setup.

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing:

• Conducting phone interviews and documenting referrals for both child and adult protection.
  
• Monitoring and managing a shared email inbox to ensure timely follow-up on incoming tasks and referrals.
  
• Providing crisis intervention and connecting clients and community members with appropriate resources.
  
• Responding to in-person requests, including walk-ins, runaways, and juveniles in law enforcement custody.
  
• Communicating with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth shift transitions and continuity of care.
  
• Covering full-time staff shifts as needed, both on a scheduled and emergency basis.

• Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency.

• Two (2) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's Degree, or equivalent education, from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, certification as a Notary Public required.

Supplemental Information

This is a hybrid position and will require at least one day/week in the office. You will be required to have adequate internet access and space for remote work. Larimer County provides an annual remote work stipend to assist with equipment and office supply needs for remote workspaces.

All new employees and rehires will be required to submit fingerprints for a CBI criminal background check (c.r.s. 26-6-104).
